Google Introduces Virtual Fitting Room

Search giant Google has launched a new AI feature that allows users to try on clothes virtually. Price drop alerts are also being introduced.

The official launch of the virtual fitting room comes two months after testing began. The feature allows users to upload a photo and try on outfits without visiting a store.

Initially launched in the U.S., users can access it through search results, Google Shopping, and Google Images. To use the feature, one must click on an item or its card and select the “try on” icon. A full-length photo upload is then required.

Subsequently, users can see how they would look in the chosen attire. There is also an option to save looks and share them with friends.

Previously, Google offered virtual try-on technologies focused on showcasing clothes on various models. The new feature allows users to try on clothes on a virtual version of their own body.

Regarding price alerts, users can now specify the amount they are willing to spend on an item, desired size, and color. They will then receive a notification if the price drops for the selected product.

“Shopping Graph includes products and prices from across the internet — so we’ll let you know when there’s an offer that matches your criteria. No more constantly checking if that bag you liked has dropped in price or forgetting to return to a product you fancied,” wrote Google’s Director of Consumer Shopping, Danielle Buckley, in a blog post.

In July, Google introduced a new AI feature in its search engine capable of independently calling local businesses to check prices and availability of goods or services, then relaying the results to the user.
