Group-IB offices raided; founder arrested in treason case

In the Moscow headquarters of Group-IB, searches were conducted. According to sources RTVI, they are linked to a criminal case in which Group-IB founder Ilya Sachkov has been detained.

Later, the information was confirmed by the press service of the Lefortovo Court in Moscow. Forbes writes that Sachkov was arrested for two months on suspicion of treason. Under this article he faces up to 20 years in prison.

According to sources TASS, Sachkov is suspected of passing secret data to a foreign intelligence service. He does not admit guilt.

\n\n

In an official statement Group-IB said that at present the company does not have information about the reasons for the searches, and the lawyers and top management are “working to clarify the situation”.

Group-IB is confident in the innocence of its head and his clean business reputation. The charges and circumstances of the criminal case were not commented on “in connection with procedural actions”. In the near future, Group-IB’s leadership will be taken over by its co-founder Dmitry Volkov.
