Identity of Beeple NFT buyer revealed after near-$70 million sale.
The non-fungible token by Mike Winkelmann, known as Beeple, was bought for $69.3 million by the founder of the NFT fund Metapurse, who goes by the pseudonym Metakovan (the real identity remains undisclosed).
With this amazing vote of confidence, @MetaKovan has helped usher in the next chapter in art history. I could not be more thankful for not just his belief in my work, but also more importantly, digital art. 🙏🙏🙏 https://t.co/gJMu41C1Dx

“Metakovan helped open a new chapter in the history of art. I am extremely grateful to him not only for appreciating my work, but also, more importantly, for digital art,” wrote Beeple.

The work “Everydays: The First 5000 Days” went under the hammer for $69.3 million at Christie’s auction. The final bid stood at $60.3 million, with commissions included in the price. The auction house noted that this made Winkelmann one of the most valuable living artists.
Everydays: The First 5000 Days is a collage of thousands of Winkelmann’s works published on the internet since 2007. The auctions announced February 16.
In late February, the Beeple NFT token featuring Trump was resold for $6.6 million. In December 2020, the artist earned $582,000 for “Crossroad”.
