Interactive Brokers launches cryptocurrency trading for US clients

The brokerage Interactive Brokers, in partnership with Paxos, has opened access to digital assets for U.S. clients.

According to the announcement, clients will be able to trade and hold Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash. Fees will range from 0.12% to 0.18% of the trade value, depending on monthly volume.

\n\n

Paxos noted that growing consumer interest in cryptocurrencies through ‘trusted intermediaries’ is driving a shift in the financial industry.

\n\n

In June, Interactive Brokers announced the launch of a new feature amid client demand. At that time the broker offered Bitcoin futures trading on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

\n\n

Back in July, Interactive Brokers chief executive Thomas Peterfi spoke about investments in cryptocurrency.
