TRON founder Justin Sun has announced he will leave the TRON Foundation and take up the post of Grenada’s representative to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

According to him, he is not leaving the project, but “rather stepping back from active involvement in it and from a leadership role.”
“I will still engage with the TRON community and strive for further advancement of the blockchain,” Sun wrote.
I’m not retiring from #TRON, but rather stepping down from an active involvement to serve as leader and supporter role now that the TRON network has been truly decentralized.
I will still be engaged with the TRON community and push for further advancement of the TRON blockchain. https://t.co/kMcnZ18flK

He noted that his decision contributes to the decentralisation of the TRON network, which is governed by 27 elected “super representatives.” TRON Foundation and BitTorrent had previously fallen out of the 27 elected.
In the new role Sun intends to advocate for the interests of developing countries and promote blockchain technology at the WTO. In an interview with CoinDesk he said he also plans to work on legitimising cryptocurrencies in Latin American countries after “the success of El Salvador”.
Against the backdrop of the news, the TRX token price plunged from around $0.085 to near $0.082.
Earlier in July, Sun spoke about participating in a research project at the Central Party School, which trains cadres for the Chinese Communist Party.
