Researcher is intended to assist in multi-step analysis processes. The tool combines OpenAI’s Deep Research mode with the “advanced search capabilities” of Microsoft 365 Copilot.
With Researcher, users can develop detailed market entry strategies, the company claims. The service will consider business specifics and competitor information from the internet, identify opportunities for new products, or create quarterly reports with detailed descriptions of operations.
Researcher can utilize information from other AI agents, tools, and applications such as Confluence, ServiceNow, and Salesforce.
Analyst “thinks like an experienced data analyst.” It is built on OpenAI’s o3-mini AI model and optimized for conducting extensive research. The tool uses a “chain of reasoning for iterative problem-solving, reflecting human analytical thinking.”
The digital assistant can use the Python programming language to execute complex data queries.
The rollout of Researcher and Analyst will commence in April as part of the new Frontier program.
In March, news emerged about Microsoft’s work on integrating 3D gaming capabilities into its Copilot AI platform.
