NFT of Jack Dorsey’s first tweet goes on sale for $48 million

NFT of Jack Dorsey's first tweet goes on sale for $48 million

The first tweet by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, in NFT form, was listed on OpenSea for 14,969 ETH (~$48.3 million). Its owner, Bridge Oracle founder Sina Estavi, plans to donate at least $25 million to charity if the sale goes through.

Estavi could stand to earn at least 1,555%. The auction runs until 13 April at 05:17 MSK. At the time of writing, no user had placed a bid.

In March 2021, the founder of Bridge Oracle purchased an NFT for $2.91 million. Dorsey transferred the proceeds to the nonprofit GiveDirectly.

Dorsey was surprised that Estavi chose not to follow his example. In response, the NFT owner said he was willing to do so at the request of the Twitter founder. Previously, he had intended to spend half of the proceeds on supporting blockchain projects. As of this writing, Dorsey had not yet commented.

Earlier in April, Elon Musk acquired 9.2% of Twitter shares. This was preceded by his criticism of NFT integration.

In November 2021, Jack Dorsey left his role as Twitter’s CEO.
