Nine CryptoPunks NFTs sold at Christie’s auction for nearly $17 million

Nine non-fungible tokens (NFTs) from the CryptoPunks collection, numbered 2, 30, 58, 532, 602, 603, 635, 757 and 768, were sold at Christie’s for $16.96 million, including the buyer’s premium.

The auction marked Christie’s second NFT sale. The first was Everydays: The First 5000 Days, which on March 11 sold for a record $69.3 million.

CryptoPunks is one of the first NFT collections on the Ethereum blockchain, released by software developer Larva Labs in 2017. The tokens are eight-bit 24×24-pixel images.

The collection comprises 10,000 unique NFTs, whose market capitalization exceeded $1.95 billion, according to the Institute for the Future at the University of Nicosia.

Recall, the meme character ‘No, I don’t want to’ revealed his identity — he turned out to be American Connor Sinclair. He will sell the original photo as an NFT.

Earlier, multiple-time world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather announced the release of a collection of non-fungible tokens in the run-up to his bout against YouTuber Logan Paul.
