OKX will roll out new features in stages over the next two weeks, enabling clients to issue Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens using the exchange’s wallet.

Earlier, OKX announced the launch of a BRC-20-focused browser.
«Adding support for such assets makes sense. This will become a key element of how users interact with Web3», — said in an interview with The Block OKX’s Chief Innovation Officer Jason Lau.
The top executive acknowledged the volatility of the current hype around Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens.
«There is still a lot of work to do to ensure that growth persists. One issue we are watching: there are some divergences in views within the Bitcoin community — what this will ultimately amount to», — he explained.
Lau also touched on discussions about forking Bitcoin.
«There are rumours about forking the Bitcoin blockchain. Some people don’t want such activity. We are monitoring this and believe these transactions [with BRC-20 and Ordinals] are legitimate. They conform to network rules and conditions, and there is nothing wrong with them», — he explained.
In May 2023, the OmniBOLT-related team announced work on integrating BRC-20 tokens into the Lightning Network “for faster and more efficient transactions.”
Recently, Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dashjr proposed to “ban” tokens BRC-20 and Ordinals.
Recently, the number of active Bitcoin addresses declined to 2021 levels. The Block analysts linked the trend to high fees.
As noted, the hype around BRC-20 tokens led to a surge in bitcoin miners’ revenues.
