ChatGPT will activate the search mode based on a query. Users can also select Search manually by clicking the corresponding icon.
The tool is available on the website and in chatbot applications for users on the SearchGPT waitlist and for Plus and Team subscription holders. The service will be opened to Enterprise and Edu users in the coming weeks. The broader public will be able to take advantage of Search “in the coming months.”
OpenAI promises to provide the best answers to search queries, eliminating the need to independently explore numerous sources as in traditional search. If delving deeper into a topic, ChatGPT retains the entire chat context.
The company collaborated with news and data providers to add up-to-date information in areas such as stocks, sports, weather, and maps.
The search mode is built on the AI model GPT-4o, trained using new methods of generating synthetic data.
Back in July, OpenAI announced the testing of SearchGPT—a temporary prototype of new AI-based search features.
