Penza resident loses over 3.5 million rubles to bitcoin scammers

A Penza resident became a victim of cryptocurrency scammers, losing more than 3.5 million rubles. The local МВД reports.

According to the victim, on the social network VKontakte he met a certain woman who suggested that he begin trading on a cryptocurrency exchange.

Subsequently an unknown person contacted the victim, who allegedly helped him understand the basics of trading on the exchange. The Penza resident also registered a wallet using the link provided by the “consultant”.

Within a month he bought bitcoins on the exchange for 3,575,000 rubles, which he sent to the registered wallet. When the man attempted to withdraw the cryptocurrency, he found that nothing remained in his account.

Law enforcement authorities opened a criminal case on fraud in a particularly large amount.

Earlier, a resident of Primorsky Krai fell victim to scammers who swindled around 3 million rubles on the pretext of investments in cryptocurrencies.
