PUBG developer to build NFT-based games with Solana Labs

The South Korean Krafton, a developer and publisher of video games, has signed a partnership agreement with Solana Labs.

Under the agreement, the companies will jointly develop blockchain-based games, including NFTs, and will promote projects and invest in them.

Krafton is the developer and distributor of the popular online game PUBG: Battlegrounds. In 2021, the company’s revenue amounted to $1.57 billion.

“We see growing demand from gamers for on-chain games, and the companies that respond quickly to this demand will be rewarded with success,” said Johnny Lee, Krafton’s Director of Business Development.

According to Dapp Radar, in January 2022 the volume of investments in the GameFi sector reached $1 billion, accounting for roughly a quarter of total investments in 2021.

Earlier in December 2021, the gaming giant Ubisoft launched the NFT platform Quartz. After sharp criticism from the community, the company stressed that they would integrate non-fungible tokens primarily for players.
