Roblox adds XRP as a payment option.

The online gaming platform Roblox has added support for XRP tokens from Ripple as a payment method.

The new payment method is now available through the Xsolla platform, which handles payments within Roblox itself and the multiplayer video game Smite.

The processing service BitPay acted as a partner to provide seamless connectivity with cryptocurrency wallets.

Roblox is available on all major platforms, including Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. According to Demandsage, by the end of July the project averaged 65.5 million daily active users, of whom 44% are under 13.

In the first quarter of 2023, players spent about $773 million on in-game purchases.

Xsolla has long been trying to integrate cryptocurrency into its payment system. In August 2022 the company entered into a partnership with management service Coinchange Financial and the Web3-streaming TradeZing platform to develop a payment mechanism using non-fungible tokens.

Subsequently the firm joined with Crypto.com to integrate the latter’s financial solution on the Xsolla Pay Station platform.

Xsolla’s partnership with BitPay dates back to 2014, when the service began accepting payments in Bitcoin. In September of that year the company added support for PayPal’s PYUSD stablecoin. Xsolla became one of the first merchants to accept the stablecoin of the payments giant.

In August, Take-Two Interactive Software, the publisher of Grand Theft Auto, via its subsidiary Zynga announced the release of the Web3 game Sugartown.

In July, Sega delayed the launch of its own blockchain games, explaining that they were boring and not enjoyable.
