Russian council urges ban on home mining

Proposed ban on home mining and regional taxation powers.

The Federation Council’s Energy Committee has sent to the Russian government a recommendation for a complete ban on mining in residential buildings to prevent fires. As reported by Izvestiya.

Separately, a ban on cryptocurrency mining is proposed in energy-deficient regions, including Moscow, Kuban and Adygea, with regions granted the right to impose additional taxes on the activity.

\n\n

If the commission’s recommendations are approved, they are likely to be considered within the framework of separate bills, the State Duma said.

\n\n

As reported, the mining-regulation bill was registered with the State Duma in mid-November 2022.

\n\n

Due to the need for additional approvals, consideration of the bill was moved to 2023.

\n\n

Earlier, the State Duma said that the taxation of miners in Russia would be carried out in line with the rest of the business and would depend on the form of their registration.
