Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary: Bitcoin will always be gold, Ethereum silver

Investor and star of the television show Shark Tank, Kevin O’Leary, said in a CNBC comment that Ethereum “will always be number two” after Bitcoin.

“Bitcoin will always be gold, and Ethereum—silver,” Mr O’Leary said.

He said the second-largest cryptocurrency would be used as a ‘system for tracking and making payments’. However, the price of Ethereum is currently too high for that purpose, the investor added.

On May 1, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization reached an all-time high at $2870. Digital gold is trading below $60,000.

Earlier in March, O’Leary said he planned to allocate 3% of his assets to Bitcoin. He added that he was considering investments in miners and the development of “carbon-free coins”.

In early April, the TV star pledged to buy only eco-friendly digital gold.
