Slovak bitcoin exchange Eterbase hacked; losses exceed $5.3 million

On September 8, unknown attackers hacked the Slovakia-based cryptocurrency exchange Eterbase. The platform said user funds in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron, XRP, Tezos and Algorand were stolen, totaling more than $5.3 million.

The exchange опубликовала addresses to which the attackers moved assets from the platform’s hot wallets.

According to the предположению of the Telegram channel Goldfoundinshit TM, losses in Bitcoin could be much larger:

«Judging by the transactions, there is another wallet, probably belonging to the exchange. The amount of funds transferred from it at the same time as the wallet mentioned in the Telegram channel of the exchange is 152 BTC», wrote him.

Representatives of Eterbase said they had contacted all centralized exchanges to which the stolen funds were sent.

More details will be available after the investigation, they added.

Trading on the exchange has been suspended.

Earlier in July, an unknown hacker emptied the Bitcoin wallet of British fintech Cashaa, operator of the Cashaa cryptocurrency exchange. The loss amounted to about 336 BTC (about $3.1 million at the time).
