Tether Unveils Open-Source Wallet Development Kit

Tether, the issuer of the popular stablecoin USDT, has introduced an open-source Wallet Development Kit (WDK).

According to a statement on the company’s website, the toolkit is “designed for people, machines, and AI agents.” Multi-chain wallets can be integrated into any device—from the smallest embedded systems to mobile, desktop, and server platforms.

The developers believe that non-custodial wallets are the foundation of a free and open financial system. They “create a resilient infrastructure, immune to interference or control by centralized entities.”

With WDK’s open-source code, anyone can develop “their own independent, secure, permissionless solutions.”

The team highlighted that unlike commercial products with fees or dependency on specific ecosystems, Tether’s toolkit is a fully open and independent framework. It supports Bitcoin, Lightning Network, EVM blockchains, second-layer solutions like Arbitrum, TON networks, Solana, and others.

“WDK by Tether supports a wide range of core DeFi tools—from lending to swaps. The platform also offers advanced features, enabling developers to create comprehensive custom solutions for any use case,” the website states.

Earlier, the omni-chain versions of Tether’s USDT stablecoin and tokenized gold XAUT were launched on Solana.
