The new partnership will allow the British startup to issue debit and prepaid cards in more than 40 countries, including the Asia-Pacific region (APAC) and the United Kingdom.
The parties have been collaborating since 2015, when Wirex became the first company to issue a cryptocurrency Mastercard card. The product allowed users to pay for purchases with digital assets at 80 million points of sale and offered cashback of up to 8%.
Wirex expects that the new partnership with the payments giant will spur business growth in the APAC region.
In the near term, the company will announce a significant initiative regarding Australia.
Back in March 2022, Wirex launched multicurrency Mastercard with support for digital assets in the United Kingdom and the EU.
