The sports brand Nike unveiled a new collection of non-fungible tokens (NFT) in the form of digital sneakers — Our Force 1. This is stated in the company’s blog.
The company will release NFTs on its Web3-platform Swoosh, which announced in November 2022.
Before the launch of the collectible tokens, the company will also conduct airdrop.
\”To thank and celebrate our first generation of Swoosh participants, we will randomly award the community 106,453 OF1 posters. This means you have about a 1 in 3 chance of receiving the drop,\” the blog says.
These posters guarantee access to the future OF1 collection, and also entitle holders to participate in sales and other company events.
The first wave of digital sneaker sales will begin on May 8 at 19:00 (Kyiv/Moscow time) and run until May 10. The price of the ‘virtual shoeboxes’ is $19.82.
Each box unlocks various digital versions of the iconic Nike Air Force 1 sneakers, first released in 1982.
According to on-chain data, by August 2022 fashion brands Dolce & Gabbana, Tiffany, Gucci, Adidas and Nike collectively generated $260 million in revenue from selling non-fungible tokens.
In April 2023, Adidas launched the second phase of its NFT initiative in the Into The Metaverse.
