NYSE applies to register trademark focused on NFTs

The New York Stock Exchange has filed to register a trademark mentioning a marketplace for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and virtual goods. The Block reports.

In April 2021, the platform released an NFT \”in honour of the IPOs of high-tech American companies\”. Each token contains the metadata of ticker quotes for Spotify, Snowflake, Unity, DoorDash, Roblox and Coupang and represents the exact moment when the company went public.

\n\n

\”Providing a marketplace for downloadable digital goods authenticated with NFTs; providing a marketplace for virtual and digital assets, artworks, collections and non-fungible tokens; […] development and design of virtual retail stores and showrooms\”, the filing states.

\n\n

The Block noted that the filing does not necessarily indicate a desire to launch an NFT marketplace. At the same time, it signals the platform’s focus on protecting intellectual property related to areas of interest.

\n\n

Earlier, the NYSE allowed the release of new NFTs \”in the near future\”.

\n\n

YouTube opened a vacancy for a director of Web3 product implementation.

\n\n

At the ForkLog conference, one of the speakers predicted that NFT could become a bridge between Web 2.0 and Web 3.0.
