On the eve of the Arbitrum airdrop, Arbitrum’s daily transactions surpassed Ethereum’s.

On March 22, in the run-up to Arbitrum airdrop, the daily number of transactions in the network reached a new all-time high — 1,312,052. Data from the on-chain analytics firm Arbiscan.

For comparison, on the same day the Ethereum network processed 1.07 million transactions.

The previous peak for Arbitrum at 1.1 million was recorded on February 21. Across the lifetime of the Ethereum layer-2 network it has processed 155.4 million transactions.

Since the airdrop was announced, the number of active addresses on the network has risen by more than 50% — to 3.87 million.

According to 0xroll on Dune Analytics, 625 143 wallets are eligible to participate in the airdrop.

The team will allocate 44% of the total supply of 10 billion ARB to early users and investors. Additionally, the community and the DAO will receive assets that will allow them to control 56% of the votes. The first phase includes a distribution of 12.75% of the total coins.

8.11% of airdrop participants have confirmed that they will list ARB on decentralised exchanges, according to the analyst going by the pseudonym The Data Nerd.

A quick look at $ARB approval before launch reveals some interesting insights:

• 50K airdrop recipients have approved $ARB to be traded on DEX.
• This accounts for 8% of the total eligible (625K).
• The closer the launch is, the more this number rises.

Amid the hype ahead of the token airdrop, journalist Colin Wu reported a new fraud scheme. According to him, a fake ETH/ARB pool appeared on the crypto exchange Uniswap, containing 400 wrapped ETH and more than 95 million fake Arbitrum tokens.

Earlier, several security firms warned the community about fake ARB airdrop sites.

Moreover, Arkham researchers said that the hacker sent small amounts of Ethereum to several compromised wallets to redirect Arbitrum tokens.

As reported earlier, even before the official airdrop, the community began selling unissued ARB on OTC markets. BitMEX launched futures on future Arbitrum coins, with peaks reaching $1.77.
