OpenAI CEO Vows to Surpass DeepSeek
OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, described the much-discussed AI model DeepSeek-R1 as “impressive,” given its capabilities for its price.
deepseek’s r1 is an impressive model, particularly around what they’re able to deliver for the price.
we will obviously deliver much better models and also it’s legit invigorating to have a new competitor! we will pull up some releases.

“Obviously, we will deliver much better models. Additionally, it’s very exciting to have a new competitor! We will pull up some releases,” he added.
Altman emphasized that his startup will continue to follow its roadmap, and having access to a large amount of computation remains important.
“The world will want to use a lot of AI and will be extremely surprised by the emergence of next-generation models,” stressed the head of the ChatGPT developer.
Earlier, Nvidia shares showed a double-digit decline following the emergence of DeepSeek-R1. The model offered capabilities comparable to leading neural networks at a much lower price, raising doubts about the feasibility of billion-dollar investments in graphics cards.
Representatives of the chip developer described DeepSeek’s solution as an “excellent achievement in the field of artificial intelligence.”
“DeepSeek’s work illustrates how new neural networks can be created using the Test Time Scaling method, using widely available models and computations that fully comply with export control requirements,” stated Nvidia.
During the trading session on January 27, the company’s shares fell by 17%. Such a significant decline had not been observed for several years.
Regarding concerns about a decline in demand for graphics cards, Nvidia attempted to refute this viewpoint.
“The conclusions require a significant amount of our graphics processors and high-performance networks,” emphasized company representatives.
US President Donald Trump noted that DeepSeek’s technology should serve as a wake-up call for American companies.
