Opinion: Ethereum 2.0 launch weeks away
The launch of Ethereum 2.0 could occur sooner than expected. Such a message from Ethereum developer Evan Van Ness оставил in the official Ethereum channel on Blockfolio.
According to him, “it’s weeks, not months.” Van Ness added a link to the Ethereum Foundation’s message about the launch of the Spadina testnet on September 29. The network, with a three-day lifecycle, will operate in parallel with the existing Medalla.
If the final testing phase proceeds without serious issues, the next step will be the zero phase of Ethereum 2.0. Earlier, developers had suggested that this would occur in November.
Medalla started on August 4. Ten days later the network experienced a fault, but Prysmatic Labs developer Raul Jordan ruled out changes to the zero-phase launch timeline.
In September, developer Lior Yaffe discovered a potential vulnerability in the Ethereum 2.0 testnet. It is related to the minimum requirement for node participation in the network.
