Optimism conducts a $26.9m airdrop across 31,870 addresses

The team of the second-layer Ethereum network Optimism (OP Mainnet) distributed 19.4 million OP tokens worth $26.9 million among 31,870 addresses that showed activity within the DAO Optimism Collective.

Today Optimism is announcing OP Airdrop #3.

19M OP allocated to over 31k unique addresses to reward positive-sum governance participation in the Collective.

For security reasons, project representatives warned that there is no dedicated page on the site to claim the third airdrop, citing the OP contract address (0x4200000000000000000000000000000000000042).

According to the developers, the coins were distributed automatically among those who delegated their voting power between January 20 and July 20, 2023.

Airdrop #3 is being directly disbursed to addresses that have delegated the voting power of their OP tokens between January 20th — July 20th of 2023.

As with the second distribution, the new airdrop is designed to encourage governance participation and active use of the network.

Rewards were calculated based on the amount of OP tokens multiplied by the number of days they were delegated (the minimum threshold to receive a payout is 18,000). For example, if a user delegated at least 180 OP for 100 days, they would be in the “white list” of recipients.

Participation in voting during the aforementioned period was also taken into account.

Earlier, the Optimism team distributed 48 million native tokens to 88,000 addresses that remained unclaimed from the first airdrop.
