Orbiter Bridge Team Announces Launch of L2 Network

The team behind the cross-chain bridge Orbiter Finance plans to launch the Orbiter Rollup, a second-layer network based on zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP).

The team positions the solution as an omnichannel platform designed to provide users with access to all other L2 protocols on ZK-Rollups, capable of transmitting not only assets but all data.

“Ultimately, we believe that across the entire layer 2 landscape, users will only need one EVM-compatible account to seamlessly explore the Ethereum ecosystem,” the developers stated.

They focused on the concept of “intentions,” which aims to simplify interactions with decentralized applications. Users should achieve their desired outcomes without “step-by-step execution” of operations, as “all complexities and nuances” are handled by the protocol, the team explained.

According to the statement, Orbiter Finance employs advanced ZKP and hardware accelerators for the L2 network to increase throughput. The technology-based Simplified Payment Verification (SPV) procedure for validating transactions on the main network will reduce arbitration costs and message delays.

The Orbiter Finance ecosystem features a loyalty program called O-Points. Users are rewarded with points for various activities within the ecosystem, including cross-chain transactions via the Orbiter Bridge. Such initiatives are typically seen by the audience as a preliminary step towards a future airdrop.

The developers of Orbiter Finance emphasized in the FAQ section that no announcements have been made regarding a potential token launch.

“The team’s primary focus is currently on product development and enhancing user experience. Any updates regarding asset issuance will be communicated through official channels such as Twitter or Discord,” the statement reads.

In February, Polygon Labs plans to launch the mainnet of the AggLayer solution as an aggregation layer for L1 and L2 blockchains based on ZKP.
