PSV to receive sponsorship payments in Bitcoin

The cryptocurrency trading platform Anycoin Direct has become the sponsor of the Dutch football club PSV for the next two seasons. Under the contract, the club will receive payments in Bitcoin, according to a press release.

The deal amount was not disclosed. According to the ED publication, it is about €400,000 per season.

\”Payment in Bitcoin marks the next step in the adoption of cryptocurrency in the European Union,\” said Lennert Vlemmings, Chief Operating Officer of Anycoin Direct.

Earlier, football clubs Inter and Arsenal announced the launch of fan tokens on the Socios.com platform.

\n\n\n\n

In August, the German Bundesliga struck a deal with collectibles producer Topps to release the first collection of non-fungible tokens featuring the best players of the 2020-2021 season.

\n\n\n\n

In the same month BitMEX signed an agreement with the Italian club Milan, under which the exchange’s logo will appear on the team’s kit.

Earlier, Lionel Messi became the first footballer in history to receive Paris Saint-Germain’s fan tokens as part of his signing bonus.
