In March, Bitcoin and Ethereum prices hit 2022 highs at $48,189 and $3,481 respectively, while the DeFi sector partially recovered after the global correction. This is stated in the ForkLog report.
In the early days of the past month, the price of digital gold tested the $45,000 level, but then moved back to consolidation in the year-to-date range. Only on March 27 did the quotes rise above this level again, and the next day reached the 2022 high.
Ethereum showed a similar pattern — after surpassing the psychological $3,000 level, the price reached the year-high of $3,481. The growth phase coincided with Bitcoin’s activity.
For the month, Bitcoin rose 5.39%, Ethereum — 12.2%.
Against the backdrop of rising prices of the sector leaders, the DeFi sector partially recovered after the drop in the amount of funds locked in smart contracts (TVL), which had been observed in January. In February–March, the indicator rose by 22%.
The Terra ecosystem showed the strongest momentum — in two months its TVL more than doubled, reaching $29 billion. At the same time, since February 1 the LUNA-denominated value increased by 3.5%, to 279.75 million coins.
The price of LUNA is closely correlated with the market capitalization of the algorithmic stablecoin UST. In March the total supply of the latter rose by 23.5%, to 16.43 billion UST. Over the same period LUNA’s price rose by 125% — staying above the $100 level.
To bolster UST’s stability, the non-profit Luna Foundation Guard has begun purchasing Bitcoin. At the time of writing находятся over 35 700 BTC (~$1.55 bn).

Из-за роста курса Ethereum совокупный TVL в L2-протоколах вырос с $6 млрд до $7,3 млрд. Подавляющее большинство из них зафиксировали приток ликвидности — исключением стали Metis Andromeda и Sorare.
Лидер сегмента по показателю — Arbitrum — преодолел порог в $4 млрд.
Акции связанных с криптовалютами публичных компаний по-разному отреагировали на восстановление рынка. По итогам марта ценные бумаги MicroStrategy и Riot Blockchain подорожали на 4.56% и 16.38% respectively. В то же время котировки Coinbase и Hut 8 снизились на 3.42% и 15.6%.
Интерес к невзаимозаменяемым токенам снижается. Об этом свидетельствует сокращение количества запросов «NFT» в Google до значений октября прошлого года, предшествовавших буму игровых токенов и метавселенных. Эти данные подтверждают снижающиеся объемы на ведущем маркетплейсе OpenSea, а также активность в разных блокчейнах.
