Robinhood launches iOS version of cryptocurrency wallet

The online broker Robinhood has unveiled an iOS version of the non-custodial Robinhood Wallet, available to customers worldwide. An Android version will follow later this year.

The developers plan to integrate Web3-browser, expand the list of supported assets and the rewards programme in the app.

The crypto wallet supports the Ethereum and Polygon networks. For users, more than 50 tokens of the ERC-20 standard, including COMP, MATIC, SHIB, SOL, UNI and USDC.

There is the ability to connect to various dapps, view and store NFTs.

“There have been turbulent months in the crypto space. We remain committed to our mission to make Robinhood the most trusted, affordable and easy-to-use conduit to digital assets,” said Johan Kerbrat, CEO of Robinhood Crypto.

In January 2023 the waitlist for the crypto wallet exceeded 1 million users. In September 2022, 10 000 people, the first to sign up for early access to the iOS app, gained the opportunity to test the beta version.

In Q4 2022 the company’s revenue from digital-asset-related operations fell by 24%, to $39 million. In the previous three months the decline stood at 12%.

In outlining risks to the business in its annual report, the firm acknowledged that uncertainty about the status of digital assets presents a material problem and could lead to the closure of related services.

Back in July 2021, ahead of the company’s IPO, co-founder and CEO Vlad Tenev called cryptocurrencies the cornerstone of Robinhood’s future development.
