Roblox says XRP integration claims are inaccurate
The online gaming platform Roblox has rebutted reports that it would support payments in Ripple for in-game items. The team called the information “inaccurate,” reports Decrypt.
On Monday, October 17, BitPay announced the possibility of cryptocurrency payments via the Xsolla service, which handles financial operations in apps on the platform.
“Xsolla now accepts XRP from BitPay as a payment method for its games, such as Smite and Roblox. You can use your preferred cryptocurrency to buy, play and enjoy games like never before,” the processing tweet read.
As of writing, the post had disappeared from the company’s X account feed.
BitPay’s chief marketing officer, Bill Zilka, told the publication about the removal of the post:
“The tweet contained an error. More information about merchants accepting cryptocurrency will be provided in the near future. Stay tuned for updates.”
News of Roblox payments integration was picked up by industry outlets, including Decrypt, Cointelegraph and Forcast. Their pieces were published by aggregators such as Yahoo Finance and CoinMarketCap. ForkLog also wrote a note.
The spread of the claim was aided by reactions from influential authors on the X platform — for example, the well-known crypto trader Scott Melker with more than 900,000 followers.

Roblox called the claims of collaboration with BitPay to provide gamers access to XRP “simply false”.
On October 16, Bitcoin’s price rose to $30,000 following a Cointelegraph tweet about the approval of BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin-ETF. The post turned out to be fake.
