Rostelecom and the Ministry of Digital Development conducted two technological tests of the blockchain system for remote electronic voting. It is being used during the by-elections to the State Duma in the Yaroslavl and Kursk regions.
According to the website of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, 30,000 people participated in the testing.
The experiment replicated every stage of voting, from registration to participation to vote counting.
There were no malfunctions during the testing, the Central Election Commission said.
The next stage is public testing of the system among voters in Kursk and Yaroslavl regions. It will take place on August 31.
As reported in July, remote voting will use blockchain. The system will be used during the early voting period on 11–12 September, as well as on the day of voting on 13 September.
Rostelecom developed the system in collaboration with Waves Enterprise.
