Two hundred Russians harmed by the Finiko financial pyramid have approached the federal public Fund for the protection of the rights of depositors and shareholders. Local media report.
According to a survey conducted by fund staff, the average loss among investors who approached them regarding Finiko amounted to 724 000 rubles, about 22% of clients lost more than 1 million rubles, 73% — more than 300 000 rubles. More than half of the victims took out loans to invest in the pyramid.
The vast majority of respondents joined the project after the opening of the criminal case concerning the organization of the pyramid in December 2020.
In addition, a criminal case for fraud on a particularly large scale has been opened against Finiko. It is being handled by the central office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs together with investigators from the Organized Crime Investigation Department.
The founder of the pyramid Kirill Doronin, Finiko’s ‘vice-presidents’ Ilgiz Shakirov and Dina Gabdulina, and the ‘tenth star’ Lilia Nuriyeva are in pre-trial detention.
Co-founders Edward and Marat Sabirovs, as well as Zygmunt Zygmuntovich have been placed on an international wanted list and arrested in absentia. According to investigators, they left Russia via Belarus and may be in the United Arab Emirates.
The total loss from Finiko’s activities, according to independent estimates, exceeds $4 billion. The number of victims is at least 850,000 people.
