A 31-year-old Stavropol resident handed over 1.5 million rubles to a cryptocurrency scammer, according to the local police.
An unknown caller, who introduced himself as a financial analyst, urged him to profit from cryptocurrencies.
He persuaded the Russian to make two transfers to accounts he named.
The Stavropol resident made the transfers, but did not receive the digital currency.
The police are seeking the perpetrator.
Earlier, ForkLog reported that a resident of Kursk Oblast lost more than a million rubles on a fraudulent site, allegedly engaged in cryptocurrency trading.
