
SBU uncovers illegal mining farm and seizes 350 devices for cryptocurrency mining
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detected an illegal mining farm in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The miners connected the equipment to one of the transformer substations, сообщила press service of the SBU.
Devices were housed in rented warehouse premises. To conceal electricity theft, the suspects used specialized equipment to interfere with the metering system.
During the search, law enforcement seized 350 devices used for cryptocurrency mining.
According to the SBU, over three months of operation the farm caused losses of more than 2 million hryvnias (over $73,000).
Earlier in February, the SBU uncovered a scheme to misappropriate cryptocurrency through interference in the operation of computers and the power grid.
