Solana Achieves Record Throughput Exceeding 100,000 TPS
Solana has become the first network to reach 107,540 transactions per second (TPS) during a stress test, as reported by Helius co-founder Mert Mumtaz.
Solana just did 107,540 TPS on mainnet
yes, you read that correctly

On August 17, one of the network’s blocks successfully processed 43,016 transactions, of which only 50 failed. However, most operations were “no-op”—they did not perform real computations but merely tested the network’s throughput.
Mumtaz emphasized that even considering the test’s specifics, Solana is theoretically capable of handling 80,000-100,000 TPS for standard operations such as transfers, oracle updates, and similar activities.
The actual throughput of the blockchain is lower. According to Solscan, the current TPS is around 3,700. Approximately two-thirds of transactions are validator consensus operations, which artificially inflate the figures.
Estimates suggest Solana’s actual throughput is 1,004-1,050 transactions per second. This is 59 times greater than the main Ethereum network’s rate.

Over the past month, the number of active addresses on the network reached 80.9 million, with 2.4 billion transactions.

The main activity on the Solana network is related to meme coins and DeFi. The most popular platforms in the ecosystem remain the “funny coin” generation site Pump.fun and the DEX aggregator Jupiter.

According to DeFi Llama, Solana’s TVL has exceeded $10.4 billion. This is 11% below the all-time high of $11.7 billion reached in January this year.
At the time of writing, the native token of the ecosystem—SOL—is trading at $181. According to CoinGecko, it has decreased by 5.7% in the last 24 hours amid a general market correction.

Earlier, on August 14, Solana’s price surpassed $205 for the first time since July.
