
Son of Ukrainian MPs declares $23.7 million in Monero cryptocurrency
The 19-year-old deputy of the Kramatorsk City Council Rostyslav Solod declared 185,000 XMR worth $23.7 million.

According to the document, Solod became the owner of the cryptocurrency at age 14.

Rostyslav Solod is the son of Verkhovna Rada deputies from the Opposition Platform — For Life faction, Natalia Korolevska and Yuriy Solod.

Viktor Neporada, who held the post of deputy head of the department overseeing compliance with laws of the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service in the Odessa regional prosecutor’s office, in his declaration before dismissal also reported holdings in cryptocurrency.

He owns 5 ETH, 1,000 NEM, 250,000 Aeneas and 5,000 Karbo. The aggregate value of the coins at the time of writing is over $980.

His wife, Veronika Neporada, also owns cryptocurrency to a total value of about $4,400: 1.53 BTC, 3 ETH, 1,000 XRP, 2.5 Bitcoin Cash, 105 EOS and 5 Zcash.

The couple began acquiring digital assets from 2017. The value of each cryptocurrency is stated in hryvnias at the National Bank of Ukraine’s exchange rate on the last day of the declaration period, and may differ from current values.

Since December 4, the Verkhovna Rada has reinstated criminal liability for false declarations of income. Violators face a fine and confinement in a correctional facility.

In March, the National Agency on Prevention of Corruption of Ukraine published rules for declaring cryptocurrency as one of the forms of \”intangible assets\”.
