Stripe has announced a recruitment drive for developers and designers in its cryptocurrency division, “to build the Web3 payments of the future.”

It will be led by Guillaume Poncin, the former head of Stripe’s Banking and Financial Products development. According to the crypto job listings, the new division will require at least four employees.
«We are seeking experienced developers in the cryptocurrency space, inspired by the opportunity to have a significant impact on how users interact with digital assets», the payments company’s website says.
In early 2018 Stripe halted Bitcoin support due to sharp price volatility and long transaction confirmation times.
Later, Stripe president John Collison did not rule out reinstating support for the leading cryptocurrency in the future.
At the end of 2019 Stripe exited Facebook’s Diem project.
In February 2021, former Bank of England governor Mark Carney joined the board of directors of the payments processor. In this role, he initiated consideration of launching a national digital currency.
In June, John Collison named himself and Stripe as “ardent enthusiasts of Bitcoin”.
