Sui Blockchain Resumes Operations After Six-Hour Outage

The layer-one network Sui has resumed block processing following a disruption, as reported by the project team.

“Transactions are proceeding normally. If you are still experiencing issues, refresh your app or browser window,” the developers noted.

They notified users of the issues on January 14. The cause of the outage remains unknown, but the team has promised to release details of the incident in the coming days.

Following the news, the price of the native token SUI briefly surged by 4%. However, over the past 24 hours, the rate has decreased by 2% to $1.79.

The recent outage marks the second most significant since the network’s launch in May 2023. Sui previously encountered issues in November 2024 when the blockchain stopped processing blocks for two hours.

The community speculated that the incident was due to a DOS attack. According to developers, the cause was an error in transaction scheduling logic.

Similar disruptions have been observed with Solana, the latest of which occurred in February 2024. Developers from Laine attributed the halt to a drop in network performance, which was resolved by restarting the blockchain.

Back in November 2025, the Sui team announced the launch of the stablecoin USDsui, with a release planned for 2026.
