The9 to expand cryptocurrency mining capacity in the United States

The Nasdaq-listed company The9, through its subsidiary NBTC Limited, has signed an agreement with hosting provider Compute North. It contemplates deploying cryptocurrency mining equipment with a capacity of more than 32 MW.

According to the press release, 10,000 Bitmain S19j miners will be deployed in the United States, starting in Q2 2022.

From December this year, NBTC plans to bring online another 14,000 devices in Canada and other countries.

Earlier, Compute North signed an agreement with mining company Atlas Mining, which would allow the latter to deploy Bitcoin mining equipment with a capacity of 100 MW in data centers in the United States.

In January 2021, The9 announced its entry into the mining industry. The company’s shares surged 140% within two days of the announcement. The subsequent announcement of buying 26 007 Bitcoin miners pushed the company’s stock price up by another 20%.

In August, The9, through NBTC Limited, signed an agreement with KazDigital of Kazakhstan to build a data center with a capacity of 100 MW.

The company also announced a partnership with Kazakhstani LGHSTR to establish a joint venture for cryptocurrency mining.
