U.S. presidential candidate pledges commitment to Bitcoin

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the nephew of the 35th U.S. president and a candidate in the current presidential race, pledged to defend citizens’ right to unimpeded ownership and use of Bitcoin.

«Биткоин — это не только оплот против тоталитаризма и манипуляций с нашей денежной массой, он указывает путь к будущему, в котором государственные институты будут более прозрачными и демократичными», — отметил политик.

Kennedy wants not only to legalise digital gold but also to embed it in Americans’ daily lives. Earlier he promised to take steps that would ‘support Bitcoin and the freedom to transact, allowing people to manage their wallets, nodes and passwords’.

According to his campaign promises, the country will create a simple regulatory framework that provides only ‘rigorous anti-money-laundering controls’.

In April Kennedy said that Bitcoin and other digital assets are an alternative to the traditional financial system.

The presidential candidate also opposes the digital dollar. In his view, the technology is ‘the ultimate mechanism for social monitoring and control’.

In May Kennedy began accepting donations in the first cryptocurrency and at Bitcoin 2023 called it ‘a symbol of democracy and freedom’. In addition, he criticized American regulators for the ‘war on cryptocurrencies’ that led to a banking crisis in the country.

In June, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong called the upcoming US elections a key moment for crypto regulation.

Earlier, Block CEO Jack Dorsey expressed support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
