Ukrainian Startup Rarimo Challenges Worldcoin with New Verification App
Ukrainian startup Rarimo, recently acknowledged by Vitalik Buterin, has unveiled a verification solution for the RariMe App. Utilizing ZKP technology, it aims to rival Sam Altman’s Worldcoin, reports CoinDesk.
The RariMe App scans passports via smartphone, proving user uniqueness based on nationality, age, and other parameters without disclosing confidential information.
This distinguishes the app from Worldcoin, which uses specialized orbs to digitize iris patterns.
“Just as a dapp can verify its identity, it can now do the same with citizenship or age verification and simply request proof,” commented Kitty Horlick, director of Rarimo, provider Rarilabs.
In its first demonstration scenario, the dapp will use passport ZK for programmable airdrops to citizens of specific countries.
“Privacy is freedom, and it no longer exists in the online space. RariMe aims to change this. It will enable users to become incognito, interacting in Web3 truly anonymously,” explained Rarimo co-founder Lasha Antadze.
Previously, Buterin outlined use cases for cryptocurrencies in everyday life. Specifically, he suggested employing ZKP mechanisms for verifying “identity, credentials, or reputation.”
Back in May, the developer identified five architectural decisions in Ethereum’s blockchain he would change if possible.
In April, the HumanCode project, which offers identity verification via palm print and is accessible to any smartphone user, partnered with TON Society.
