Uniswap updates rules on collecting user data
A leading non-custodial exchange, Uniswap updated its privacy policy and outlined rules for protecting user data.
“First of all, we do not collect or store personal information such as first name, last name, postal address, date of birth, email address, or IP address,” the platform’s team stressed.
However, the DEX uses certain network data and wallet-related information of clients to ‘make informed decisions and improve service’.
The developers clarified that this refers to mobile device identifiers, cookies, local storage information, OS data, programming languages and browser version. The data help, for example, in understanding user preferences and improving interaction.
Uniswap confirmed that it checks clients’ wallets using third-party analytics tools to detect illicit activity.
The exchange also warned users that it may share certain data with infrastructure providers such as Infura and Cloudflare. The platform will also disclose available information upon request by judicial authorities and, if necessary, to a third party to meet compliance requirements.
“Uniswap does not provide your data to third parties for marketing purposes,” the platform’s team said.
Earlier in August, Uniswap blocked at the frontend level 253 addresses linked to illicit operations and activity on the sanctioned mixing platform Tornado Cash.
