Verifone to Give Customers Access to Cryptocurrencies
Verifone, the American provider of payment solutions for retailers, will enable merchants to accept cryptocurrency payments in-store and on online e-commerce platforms in the United States.
According to пресс-релизу, BitPay, a cryptocurrency processor, is the partner. The service will be available this year.
“Verifone’s client base includes many of the world’s largest and best-known brands seeking to enter the growing cryptocurrency market,” said Stephen Pair, co-founder and CEO of BitPay.
Consumers will be able to use several wallets for payments, including Blockchain.com, BRD, MetaMask, BitPay and others.
The processing supports transactions in Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Dogecoin (DOGE), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), Litecoin (LTC) and five dollar-pegged stablecoins: GUSD, USDC, PAX, DAI and BUSD.
Funds will be instantly credited to the merchant’s account in fiat currency.
“Together we addressed all potential merchant issues: there are no volatility or chargeback fraud risks, implementation costs are low, and consumers will find the process very simple,” said Jeremy Belostok, head of payments at Verifone.
The company serves more than 600,000 clients, processing over 10.4 billion transactions annually worth $440 billion. The provider’s network comprises around 35 million terminals worldwide.
The partnership gives Verifone the right to make strategic investments in BitPay.
As reported, support the use of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment ranges from 28% of Arizona residents to 37% in Texas and Wyoming, according to the survey.
