Vitalik Buterin Criticizes Insufficient Investment in Web3 Infrastructure

Investors are channeling funds into certain types of infrastructure while neglecting others, making it inaccurate to speak of “large capital flows” into this sector. This was stated by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin on Warpcast.

“In reality, it looks like this: people want to invest in ‘casinos’. But they also want to feel good about it. So they direct capital into a subset of infrastructure startups that derive side profits from casinos,” the expert explained.

Buterin lamented the insufficient investment in open-source projects.

“We are still quite small and should encourage innovation, not stifle it. For any infrastructure, if it is not open-source, it is not very good for the ecosystem,” he concluded.

Back in April, a researcher under the pseudonym Emperor Osmo predicted that the DePIN sector would experience rapid growth as major companies like Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Cloudflare require efficient scaling.

Earlier, The Block noted the growing interest in DePIN as signs of a new growth cycle for digital assets.
