Among the priorities he listed:
- The Merge — achieving the ideal, simple, reliable and decentralized PoS-consensus;
- The Surge — achieving 100,000 transactions per second on Ethereum and rollups;
- The Scourge — reducing centralisation risks in the Ethereum PoS design, especially around MEV and liquid staking;
- The Verge — simplifying block verification;
- The Purge — simplifying the protocol, addressing technical debt and containing costs of participating in the network;
- The Splurge — other fixes.
Earlier in December, Buterin proposed reviving ‘crypto-punk’ revolution, which was conceived for the network in its infancy.
A month earlier, he released the essay ‘My Techno-Optimism’, in which he shared his views on the impact of new developments, notably blockchain and artificial intelligence, on the progression of human civilisation.
