Voronezh woman loses 1.1 million rubles in crypto-investment scam
Voronezh investigators have opened a criminal case into fraud after a local resident reported being harmed during an attempt to invest in cryptocurrencies. The information was reported on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Voronezh region.
According to the victim, she clicked on a link leading to a page about lucrative investment opportunities. Subsequently, the offender contacted her, posing as a trader on one of the exchanges.
He urged the woman to install a remote-access app on her phone, and he registered on one of the cryptocurrency exchanges and convinced the victim to top up the account.
In total, the victim transferred around 1.1 million rubles, after which the ‘trader’ stopped responding.
Police are conducting an investigation.
Earlier, a court found guilty of fraud against a Vladikavkaz resident who embezzled 1.8 million rubles under the pretext of investments in cryptocurrencies.
