Watch and earn: DreamSmart and Up Network unveil AI smart glasses

Smart-hardware designer DreamSmart and OS developer Up Network have fused three strands—artificial intelligence, augmented reality and cryptocurrencies—to build AI smart glasses.

The AI Web3 glasses will let users earn, rewarding them with “tokenised incentives”. They are slated to launch in the first quarter of 2025; pricing will be revealed later.

Web3 transactions are reportedly processed locally on the device. Data are not transmitted to centralised corporations, and the AI-service provider does not gain access to the owner’s transactions or personal information.

“These glasses are not just a device; they are a gateway to the future of computing and decentralized technologies, uniting AI, XR and Web3 incentives into one powerful ecosystem,” said Up Network co-founder Devansh Hatri.

The device uses Google’s Gemini to deliver AI capabilities. The developers promise compatibility with other “advanced AI agents”.

A waveguide optical display projects imagery onto the lenses, creating a “seamless extended-reality experience”. According to the company, the glasses can be used continuously for eight hours.

In September 2024, Ray-Ban and Meta’s smart glasses received an update—real-time video processing powered by AI.

Earlier, Mark Zuckerberg said he sees a future in which everyone wears AI devices.

In July, reports suggested Apple was working to integrate Apple Intelligence into its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset.
