Winklevoss Twins Donate $1 Million in Bitcoin to Elizabeth Warren's Rival

Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss have each donated 8 BTC (~$500,000) to the campaign of John Deaton, who is running for the Senate seat in Massachusetts.

The seat is currently held by Elizabeth Warren, known for her tough stance on digital assets.

“Elizabeth Warren is one of the greatest threats to American prosperity. When it comes to cryptocurrency, she is public enemy number one. She is the chief architect and driving force of the Biden administration’s war on the industry,” said Tyler Winklevoss.

According to him, if “Warren embodies the worst in the country, then John Deaton represents the best.” The entrepreneur described the founder of Deaton Law Firm as a supporter of “Bitcoin, crypto, and business.”

His brother Cameron expressed a similar view, confirming his donation to Deaton’s fund.

“He will put an end to Warren’s war on cryptocurrencies. Onward!” wrote the co-founder of the Gemini exchange.

Deaton was involved in the SEC case against Ripple, representing the interests of the fintech company’s investors.

In April, the lawyer raised concerns about the U.S. government’s alleged assistance in the illegal activities of the bankrupt exchange FTX and its founder Sam Bankman-Fried. This led to the Senate investigating the platform’s leadership’s relations with the CFTC

In June, the Winklevoss twins contributed $2 million in Bitcoin to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. The politician has repeatedly expressed support for the crypto industry and opened up to cryptocurrency donations.

Earlier, Kraken co-founder Jesse Powell donated $1 million to Trump’s campaign, “mostly in ETH.”
