Wix, the international cloud platform for building and growing websites, has added support for payments in Bitcoin and other crypto assets as part of a collaboration with the processing service BitPay.
According to the press release, the new option is integrated with Wix’s ecommerce platform. This allows merchants to accept payments in 12 cryptocurrencies:
- Bitcoin;
- Ethereum;
- Litecoin;
- Bitcoin Cash;
- Dogecoin;
- Wrapped Bitcoin;
- US dollar-pegged stablecoins (BUSD, DAI, GUSD, USDP and USDC);
- XRP token from Ripple (in some countries).
In the initial phase, the option is available to merchants and customers in the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Australia, Canada and Germany. BitPay’s processing fee will be 1%.
Earlier, the authorities of the American city Williston announced a partnership with the processing service. to pay utilities with bitcoin.
In April, the online retailer Newegg added Dogecoin as a payment method via BitPay, and the flexible workspace provider WeWork announced the acceptance of the first cryptocurrency.
In June, a similar feature was rolled out by the leading telecommunications company in Latin America and the Caribbean, GoldConnect.
In September, the American online retailer Shop.com added support for payments in Bitcoin, Ethereum and several other cryptocurrencies as part of a BitPay partnership.
