Yuga Labs Sells Rights to CryptoPunks NFT Series

The non-profit organization The Infinite Node Foundation (NODE) has acquired the intellectual property rights to the CryptoPunks NFT collection from Yuga Labs. The financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed.

The series of 10,000 tokens was launched by Larva Labs in 2017. The studio behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection, Yuga Labs, acquired the rights to CryptoPunks in 2022.

According to CryptoSlam, the total sales volume of CryptoPunks has exceeded $3 billion.

NODE positions itself as an entity focused on the preservation and development of digital art. The company was founded in 2025 by Micky Malka and Becky Kleiner.

CryptoPunks creators Matt Hall and John Watkinson will join the organization as collection managers. Joining them on the advisory board will be Wylie Aronow (Gordon Goner) from Yuga Labs and Erick Calderon from Art Blocks.

Following the transfer of ownership, NODE plans to organize a full exhibition of the collection at its hub in Palo Alto, California. To support a permanent display, the company will install a full Ethereum node there.

As a consultant for the transaction, NODE hired Natalie Stone, the CryptoPunks manager at Yuga Labs.

“Freed from corporate friction and constraints, punk ethics can now thrive in a decentralized, community-driven future. […] Under our leadership, CryptoPunks will remain true to the creators’ vision and continue to be a defining collection of this century’s pioneering art movement,” the company stated.

In the first quarter, trading volume in the NFT segment fell by 24% compared to the last quarter of 2024 — to $1.5 billion, according to a DappRadar report.
