Alexey Pomerko of Arsenal Tula loses 2.3 million rubles in a cryptocurrency purchase
The Arsenal Tula footballer Alexey Pomerko became a victim of a fraudster while attempting to buy cryptocurrency. This was reported by the Telegram channel SHOT.
According to available information, Pomerko asked his friend—the former footballer who played for Russia’s youth and under-21 national teams, Vyacheslav Dmitriev—to carry out the deal.
The first transaction for $10,000 went through successfully. Dmitriev handed over the money to the seller, who transferred it to the crypto wallet and showed a screenshot of the deposit being credited.
However, during the second meeting, when the footballer’s friend handed over another $24,500, the money did not reach Pomerko’s wallet.
Dmitriev reported to the police. The loss is estimated at nearly 2.3 million rubles at the exchange rate at the time of the deal.
Law enforcement is seeking the vehicle the seller was using.
Earlier ForkLog reported that Russian actor Artem Tkachenko lost around $260,000 on fraudulent Bitcoin investments, trusting the advice of Pavel Derevyanko, who also suffered losses from ill-fated investments in cryptocurrencies.
